Rainbow Bridge

BuddyBuddy (Val Thompson)
December 1992 - April 2007

The house has felt very empty since Buddy left us. He was the first dog that Mike and I adopted together. In his younger days, he was Mike's jogging companion. His favorite activity was to run like the wind in a straight line. He was also content to just hang out with us. We will always miss him. (view collage)

Quin

Quin (Arna Emerick)
November 1997 - March 2007

When you bring a pet into your life, you begin a journey – a journey that will bring you more love and devotion than you have ever known. This wonderful journey also tests your strength and courage. If you allow it, your journey will teach you many things about life, about yourself, and most of all about love. You will come away changed forever, for one soul cannot touch another without leaving its mark. Too many times we hike on automatic pilot, our goal being to complete the trail rather than enjoy the journey. When we walk as the dog does, we discover a whole new world. We learn what any dog knows: that nature has created a marvelously complex world that is full of surprises and ever changing wonders, each day an essence all its own. If you pay attention and learn well, when the journey ends, you will be not just a better person but the person your pet always knew you to be. This journey is not without pain, for surely as the sun sets one day our beloved companions will follow a trail we cannot yet go down. We must find the strength and love to let them go. Deep down we knew this journey would end one day. We knew that if we gave our hearts they would be broken, but give them we must for it is all they ask in return. When the time comes and the road curves ahead to a place we cannot see, we give one final gift and let them run on ahead… whole once more. "Godspeed my good friend Quin, until our journey comes full circle and our paths cross again". (view collage by Bruce of bamfoto)

Iggy

Iggy (Maureen Flaherty)
April 1995 - February 2007

Our best friend Iggy said good bye today. He's left us with some tears but a far greater amount of good memories, including knowledge as to how strong a partnership can be both on and off the field, ideas for new career pursuits, and a host of adventures and new experiences, all pursued with unadulterated joy. We like to think that he's just a bit further up the trail, waiting for us. We will certainly be on the lookout.

Zane

Zane (Judi Gandolfi)
February 1998 - October 2006

You were only with me for eight short years, but what a lifetime of memories we share. Fantastically loyal and dependable, you were my soul mate. My first agility dog, together we bumbled our way through. We shared so much together. You will always hold a special place in my heart.

Cougar

Cougar (Laurel Manning)
September 1997 - August 2006

From the day you picked me out in the puppy yard, you were the most loving, friendly, tractable dog I have ever known. We began agility to build your confidence, and it gave us an even closer bond. Nothing tamed your free spirit, your desire to run, to explore, to enjoy life. I will always miss you, my dear Cougie.

Rainbow Bridge

Story of the Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.

Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Farewell

Tie the strings to my life, my Lord,
Then I am ready to go!
Never I mind the bridges,
And never I mind the sea;

Held fast in everlasting race
By my own choice and thee.
Good-bye to the life I used to live,
And the world I used to know;

And kiss the hills for me, just once,
Now I am ready to go!

- Emily Dickinson
